A modern approach to Roses

Forget the monoculture 1940’s  beds, Roses have come a long way since then , there are new introductions with good disease resistance and big blousy blooms reminiscent of Dutch renaissance paintings . Approach colour in a refreshing  way and mix , Rosa Summer Song with Crocossmia Babylon and Heuchera  cherry cola, all pinky orange but very different in form , providing  both harmony and contrast.  I have done a sniff test this morning and Rosa Chartreuse de Parme is overwhelming, with it’s intense cerise violet blooms and mind blowing fragrance.

Roses are greedy and deep rooted so to ensure healthy foliage plant with well rotted manure . Feed throughout the growing season with Westland rose food  and dead head regularly to prolong flowering . If you want to avoid a spraying programme  choose a modern disease resistant variety such as Alfred Sisley pictured above , winner or two prestigious French awards.

If you would like any further information on the varieties of Roses we stock then please do not hesitate to get in touch! Landline 01707 261370 Email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
